Quick Tip: A little bit more on file extensions

As I mentioned earlier today, yesterday I had a tiny problem with a file extension, because although I had the right player for it, I didn't have the right plugins to run it.

.QTX File Extension

Just a quick heads up on something I came across yesterday. Again, it's more of a "DO NOT FORGET" link for my personal use here, than anything else.

I was downloading a few web clips, and one of them came with the file extension QTX. Aparently, it's aQuicktime extension used by Apple Quicktime Player.

The description says:

"The file extension QTX enables support for additional video codecs and file formats; allows QuickTime to play video files encoded with third-party codecs; must be installed in the correct folder in order to be recognized by QuickTime."

Quite a nice find! You can read more about the file extension qtx here

So what else do you need then?

Last week it came to my attention that ColdFusion is being used by 75 of the Fortune 100 companies. Then, I was also informed that ColdFusion was ranked in the top four application servers by developers, just behind Websphere, Geronimo and Windows Server.

In the last couple of weeks, ColdFusion has been "the big fuss" of the world wide web. It's totally scalable, and the learning curve is smaller than any other web language currently out there.

My question is:

What else do you need to crack on with ColdFusion development? It's FREE for educational purposes, you can have FREE hosting for development, there's a flawless FREE training material and a GREAT community.

I'd appreciate comments on that matter, as well as questions from people who might be thinking of starting with ColdFusion, but are still unsure about a thing or another.

iPhone skin review

This is just a quick review on an item I've recently purchased off the internet. A friend of mine recently had his iPhone's screen broken when he accidentally dropped his phone from about 10 inches high. It wasn't really a big fall, but when he took it back, the screen had a big crack.

We all know how sad these kind of things are, specially if you need to count on insurance and stuff. Basically his insurance didn't bother too much, and said it was misuse, so now he's gonna have to stay with a cracked screen iphone till the end of his contract (April 2010).

I then started to look for iphone case and ended up finding more than that. The guys over at Zagg sell a nice iphone skin to be applied to your phone that avoids any kind of scratches to it. We all know how frustrating is to have a new gadget, and suddenly have it damaged by day-to-day use.

They also have a nice range of earbuds in their website, which I'm still to try, but if the quality of it is half of what their iphone skins is, I'm sure it will be my last purchase on that.

Those guys are basically a must when it comes to gadget protection, as they also do PSP skins, GPS and even laptop protectors. I bought this skin to my iPhone and simply loved it. Now I'll order one for my laptop as well.
